The Hampshire Project

"Set within the rolling countryside of Hampshire, England, this former Victorian stables has been thoughtfully transformed over time into a beautifully renovated family home. Rich in character and history, the building’s equestrian past became the guiding inspiration for the kitchen design."

We often talk about how the little details transform a space. Those elements that, when you look closer, there’s a story behind them.

The Hampshire Kitchen Project is shaped through gentle curves, where each detail flows into the next.

A defining feature is the arched opening, immediately softening and introducing a subtle rhythm throughout the kitchen. Continued through to the hardware: from the spherical lighting to our Conic Collection in Dark Brushed Brass, all working together beautifully.

The Kitchen

As a Victorian stables-turned family home, the Hampshire Kitchen maintains its heritage while introducing subtle contemporary details for added modern charm.

An open-plan layout and a soft, muted palette allow light to move effortlessly through the space, creating a natural sense of brightness and ease.

Hardware Highlights

A refined contemporary layer, the integration of the Conic Collection in Dark Brushed Brass is carefully considered throughout.

Defined by controlled curvature and a recessed face, Conic combines precise detailing and smooth contours create a clean, contemporary profile.

From the designer

Speaking to Victoria Latreuille of Northwood Design:

“As the interior designer behind Northwood Design, I was keen to honour the origins of the space while introducing a layered, modern sensibility that feels both refined and inviting.

A rustic terracotta brick-tiled floor anchors the room, bringing depth, warmth and an unmistakable sense of heritage. This is paired with a clean-lined, modern Shaker kitchen, striking a careful balance between traditional craftsmanship and understated elegance. The cabinetry is elevated by Hendel & Hendel’s Conic handles in Dark Brushed Brass, whose subtle lustre adds a sophisticated edge.

The material palette continues with the striking yet elegant veining of Neolith’s Abu Dhabi worktop, introducing a refined contrast to the earthy tones below. A terracotta Aga sits proudly within the scheme, reinforcing the home’s rustic narrative, while walls painted in Little Greene’s ‘Joanna’ envelop the space in a soft, calming hue.

Layered lighting enhances the warmth of the materials and ensures the kitchen transitions effortlessly from practical workspace to atmospheric gathering spot. The result is a space that feels timeless yet personal - a true heart of the home and, without doubt, the most used and most loved room in the house.”
