Wallpaper on cabinetry
An unexpected (but beautiful) movement
From the details of a cabinet handle to the subtle textures that surround it, it’s the interplay of these elements that elevates a space.
One particular design direction capturing our imagination right now is wallpapered cabinetry.
Earlier this year, during London Design Week at Chelsea Design Harbour, we caught up with luxury wallcovering brand Arte on all things wallpapered cabinetry. And with our community of designers embracing this expressive detail, we love seeing this direction paired with our hardware.

Wallpaper in unexpected places
Traditionally reserved for walls and statement rooms, wallpaper is finding its way into more intimate, unexpected places. Whether inside cabinetry, shelving, or across built-in units, wallpaper adds a subtle surprise touch and instant drama.
When paired with the right hardware and materials, wallpapered cabinetry turns into a curated canvas, blending artistry with functional solutions.
What makes this movement so compelling is the lasting impression it creates. This is for those who appreciate the interplay of texture and tone, and who find joy in the unexpected.

A deliberate choice
Great design comes down to detail. Wallpaper cabinetry is a reminder that accessories, like the right pull handle, finish, and texture, can completely redefine how we experience a space.
Dressing room inspiration
Dressing rooms and closets are those intimate spaces that celebrate personal expression. Using wallpaper as a beautiful feature can make a striking difference to something you use every day.
Arte’s Cyperus wallcovering in blue-silver adds an ethereal backdrop that shimmers softly with the light. Paired with our Hempstock Pull Handles, T-Bar Knobs, and Fenton Hooks in Dark Brushed Brass, this dressing room balances architectural detail with soft textures.

From our community: Lark Valley
Among the designers embracing this movement, UK interior design company Lark Valley is creating some beautiful examples.
In one project, a bespoke media unit is reimagined with sliding doors and wallpapered panels. Another, we see our Fitzrovia Collection paired with a serene, wallpapered cabinetry backdrop. The result is a beautiful juxtaposition where this striking silhouette of the Fitzrovia handle meets the soft, feminine landscape behind.
“In collaboration with Tash from Styled Home Design, we’ve created a standout piece: a bespoke TV unit where sliding doors become a canvas for richly detailed, nature-inspired wallpaper. When closed, the screen disappears behind a painterly scene, transforming the unit into a striking, wall-like composition.
We framed the unit with the Fitzrovia pull handle from Hendel & Hendel - a detail that lends architectural structure and a refined, Deco-inflected character.
This piece distils our approach: elevated materials, fearless design, and a belief that functionality should never come at the cost of beauty.” – Lark Valley
Overall, adding wallpaper in unexpected places creates a remarkable focal point. When combined with beautiful hardware, cabinetry is redefined with just a few additions.
